We’re celebrating Cinco De Mayo with a spotlight on the groundbreaking and talented designer/artist, Milteri Tucker Concepcion, CEO of the fashion brand, Bomba Caribbean Skirts. Milteri is a proud Puerto Rican-born and-raised fashion designer/multidisciplinary artist igniting the fashion industry with her culture and zeal. As a Bomba dancer, Milteri knows the importance of using arts as a means of expression to escape poverty and oppression, the principles of which she created her brand. Self-produced alongside her mother, these skirts embody Afro-Boricua jene se quios, culture, and resistance. Dubbed “FDBD” (for dancers by dancers), the pieces reflect her passion for her heritage and the art of Bomba dancing. With each article sewn on “presencia y Libertad” principles, Milteri’s bomba skirts are perfectly fabricated with bold colors that symbolize Puerto Rican culture and sturdy fabric designed for bomba dancers to live repurposed within their craft. Milteri is a renowned designer with many accolades, such as New York Fashion Week and a showcase at the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture. As a love letter to her Carribean ancestry Milteri stitches resistance and celebration in every thread, empowering bomba dancers on and off the dance floor. Are you ready to bomba for Cinco De Mayo?
