A few weeks ago, MITC Studio, a Black women-owned fashion and lifestyle boutique in the heart of Chicago’s Bronzeville, hosted its debut fashion showcase, A Night in Bronze, at City Point Loft.
The evening was a stunning celebration of Black fashion, female entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage. The featured collection drew inspiration from African diasporic prints, Bronzeville’s timeless grace, and the energy of contemporary women. Each look told a story of empowerment—capturing the spirit of women who lead, create, and inspire, while remaining deeply rooted in community and culture.
Models graced the runway in voluminous black organza skirts, layered dresses, and structured jackets, balancing bold femininity with architectural silhouettes. Flowing skirts met sharp tailoring, and menswear-inspired cuts were reimagined through a feminine lens.
Rich bronze and earthy tones flowed throughout the collection—seen in wide-leg plaid trousers and hand-printed African wax jackets detailed with intricate lace. The thoughtful use of texture and contrast—lace over snakeskin, wax prints layered with mesh, sheer over opaque—brought the garments to life, creating movement and visual rhythm across the runway.
The result was a breathtaking display of artistry: a fusion of structure and softness, tradition and modernity, individuality and unity.
