The Ivory Collection on the Runway 2017 Live in Houston Texas Black Women’s Expo
The Ivory Collection is a brand created by Tanya Ivory Mayes. Tanya attended the University of North Texas where she was pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Fashion Design and minoring in Marketing. She is also an award winning designer. The Textile and Costume Institute of The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston awarded her the Honorable Mention, Ready-To-Wear 1996 Fine Arts Fashion Award. The Ivory Collection has been featured in WWD and other publications. The Ivory Collection brand incorporates beautiful fabrics in flattering colours with the most appealing cut for design. The Ivory Collection is elegance and calm understated luxury. Tanya has worked on television and film projects including the ABC movie, “King of The World, Muhammad Ali: The story behind his early years” and “The Pirate Island of Jean Lafitte” directed by Grant Mitchell and “Fifth Ward” directed by Greg Carter.
Tanya was a designer in the first For the Sake of Art – John Biggers Mural inspired fashion show at TSU University Museum. Her artwork has been exhibited and sold at Betz Gallery. Tanya’s artwork was also selected to be a part of the juried show for the 15th Annual Citywide African American Artists exhibition for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The University Museum and the Community Artists’ Collective. The Ivory Collection fashion line was shown at the Toyota Center 1995 Championship Room for the Fashion is Forever Show. Tanya Ivory Mayes also recently presented her designs during the 2015 Houston Black Heritage Festival which had over 7,000 attendees. Her designs were also shown in the Houston African Fashion Week 2015.
Tanya gives God the credit for her artistic talent including the ability to sketch, paint, sew, design, style and write. She cherishes her family and also enjoys being active in her community.
