“Connecting Threads African Fashion in Chicago”
At The Field Museum

Welcome to our exhibit page. Black Fashion Week is extremely honored to spotlight  Chicago Designers on the forefront of Africa Fashion In Chicago within our Co-Curated fashion exhibit Connecting Threads Africa Fashion In Chicago.

This exhibit is a tribute to our ancestors’ contribution to the global fashion industry, featuring ancient artifacts and a colorful display of contemporary fashion by six outstanding Chicago-based designers, including our Co-Curator Jennifer Akese Burney of  Akese Stylelines.

We would like to thank the Field Museum for entrusting us to bring the vision of Africa Fashion to life in Chicago.

We hope that everyone reading this message can visit the museum and check out the ticketed global world traveling exhibit Africa Fashion and our Chicago version, which is free with museum entry.
